Long time no post ... boy has life changed!

Its been a very long time since I last posted here on the blog. Things in my life have changed drastically since then and I felt it was time to start blogging again.

One thing about blogging that I'm never sure of is .... how much of my "dirty laundry" do I talk about. Do I write about things in general or can I be somewhat detailed, and if I am detailed will it come back to bite me in the butt?

So I'm going with a general talk. So earlier this year my husband of 11 years decided to have an affair. Consiquently I have filed for divorce and now things are getting ugly even after going before a judge. It seems that some people refuse to acknowledge a judges orders.

This has been hard on my son who is now 6. I try to maintain a stable home for him and keep him out of all the divorce talks however, his father doesn't do that so much.

So now I am preparing for my next journey with Nate. I want to get him away from all the madness that is life now and move cross country to a family friendly town where he and I can reconnect as mother and child. I will be finishing up my nursing degree as well and I know in my heart that this is something that will be great for he and I both.

Now the journey of saving and earning enough money begins. I had the money saved but its all went to pay for attorney fees so I'm starting from scratch. If anyone has suggestions on extra things to do to make some extra cash (legit things) please feel free to let me know.

I promise that I will start blogging again daily and get back into the swing of things again.

Salt Dough Ornaments

This is a handy recipe to use with your children to make homemade ornaments for your tree, or even ornaments to give as gifts! This is super fast because there is no need to bake them, simply put them in the microwave.

You'll need:

4 cups of flour
1 cup of salt
1 1/2 cups of hot water
holiday cookie cutters
decorations, glitter, paint, beads, etc.

Knead the dough and roll it out to cut out shapes with cookie cutters (just like if you were making sugar cookies). Place them on a microwave-safe plate and microwave on high for about 2 minutes. Paint and decorate as desired.

To destination or not!?!

So my baby sister is getting married next May. Like most brides she is looking through all the books in search of that perfect dress. She's narrowed it down to a few different styles and has her colors picked out too. I'm going to be fixing Save the Date cards for her, and then later the formal invitation as well.

The only thing not totally clear is where to have it! Now she's going to get married in May so the weather will be getting warmer (we are in the south) so she's thought about an outside wedding. However, with the way the spring is in the South you never know if you're going to have an unexpected downpour at any minute that would flood the entire party.

So I've been trying to talk her into a destination wedding. Just inviting a small group of the families and not being too elaborate. I keep telling her that we could do beautiful beach wedding photos and that it would be really fun. She's open to the idea but I think that she's also kinda scared about it. We've talked about Hawaii, Jamaica, Florida, and most of the Caribbean as well.

So has anyone done a destination wedding ... where did you go ... what did you learn ... what advice would you give ... and would you do it again?

Not a blood clot, just pnumonia.

My Mom has been pretty sick for a few weeks now. She being a stubborn woman refused to slow down, or see the NP while her Dr was out of town. We went to the beach last week and it really caught up to her.

She was unable to lay flat at all which made sleeping a challenge. When we got back home her feet were swollen pretty bad and the family said enough was enough .. GO TO THE DOCTOR!

On Monday morning she made a happy trip to the Dr's office. I got a call at 1pm from my stepfather telling me that she had been admitted. They thought she had a blood clot in her lungs and that they were doing emergency CT scans, blood work, EKG's, and anything else you can think of.

We got the results back today, no clots, just lots and lots of fluid in her lungs. So now she gets to have the fluid drained today. If the fluid is back in the morning, I'll be missing my first day of class because I'll be at the hospital with my Mom while she gets a chest tube to drain her lung.

She was in good spirits today, thankful that there was no clots. I just hope that she'll slow down some and let her body heal. She is always on the go no matter where she is and it has really caught up with her.

Can't take the heat!

We are home from the beach. We went to Myrtle Beach and it was just too hot this past week. This is the only beach vacation we have taken where we only went to the beach twice in a whole week.

The heat index was around 120 everyday and it was just to hot to even breathe. There was no breeze at the beach either which made it worse. Our hotel was lacking too, I'll write a review post about it later.

Overall we are just all happy to be home, now we are getting ready for school to start this week.

Sorry

Sorry that I have been a bad blogger of late. This week (Wednesday) we found out that my Dad has a tumor in his kidney. They said that it is most likely Kidney Cancer. The biopsy results will be back on Monday when he has a follow up visit. The Dr wants to be safe and they will be removing the entire kidney soon.
